Natural Power Ventilation (NPV)*
IDS have developed and patented a new concept in ventilation control that dramatically reduces Electrical costs.
Natural ventilation control has an extremely low running cost but is difficult if not impossible to correct if it is not functioning correctly in certain weather conditions.
On the other hand a good fan ventilation installation can be adjusted to ensure that it performs correctly in all weather conditions. The disadvantage of fan ventilation is that its electrical running costs are much higher than Natural Ventilation.
We have developed a programme to ensure that we can utilize natural ventilation until there is need for additional ventilation at which stage the fans begin to operate.

What is Natural Power Ventilation?
It is simply a fan house that works as a natural house when possible. To facilitate this we install additional chimneys without fans. We have developed a programme to ensure that we can utilize natural ventilation until there is need for additional ventilation at which stage the fans begin to operate.
What is the electrical saving?
Currently we have installations on four farms that are suitable for comparative testing. On each farm we have identical Pig numbers in each of two houses, one with modern Fan Control and the other with the new ventilation concept NPV.
Savings of approx 80% are being recorded and pig comfort is not being compromised.
This is better than we dared hope and we are particularly impressed by the performance of the pigs in the houses fitted with NPV.
